Let Adults Decide supports lowering the legal drinking age in the United States from 21 to 18. If someone is legally considered an adult, they should be trusted to make adult decisions — including whether or not to drink alcohol.

Yet they are prohibited from deciding whether to have a drink. This contradiction weakens the meaning of adulthood.
This movement does not encourage reckless behavior. We believe responsibility grows when adults are treated like adults. Honest education and accountability are more effective than prohibition.
If you are old enough to vote for your leaders and risk your life for your country, you are old enough to decide whether to drink. It’s time for laws that reflect consistency, trust, and respect for adult autonomy.
